Daracel: Innovations in Dairy Farming

Its time to move on. I have done as much as I can to advance the Daracel concept. Its time to give others the opertunity to try there hand at making Daracel a reality so I propose that I freely gift the concept to mankind. My first attempt will be to present Daracel to the Corporate leadership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This will be done at my first oppertunity.

Marketing using the Coop farmer owned system

The Daracel Concept needs a marketing system owned and operated by producers. The past farming development used the Cooperative idea. Some I recall is getting electricity, the REC program and the telephone Coop, the oil Cooperative; over the years the Cooperative system hasn't kept pace with other systems.

Farmers relyed on Government programs to tide over the rough spots and then started relying on more control till it has become the only idea out there. This system has become opportunities for those who can profit at questionable usages. Its time a more responsible system be developed with built in checks to prevent waste and corruption.

I suggest a new name be used ( COOPERTUNITY MARKETING ) COMARK for short.

Iam asking for input on how this system may progress all suggestings will be helpful.

Monolithic Dome

I came across the monolithic dome building concept and will use this building for the carousel housing cover on the milking system. This will also cover the holding pens and push to the milking carousel entry and exit gates. The dome building will allow all courtyard entries and exits to be closed by powered doors at appropriate times for weather, temperature, security and protection of livestock.

The building has no center supports this allows complete utilization of all working space within the building. The outside walls are the support for the dome. The dome is very strong and can weather severe conditions

I need a dairy building thats round and in some areas oblong shelters in the livestock courtyards,current buildings are unexceptable to my vision of Daracel dairy housing, anyone have ideas of building concepts to enhance effency,cost and beauty?

The question of how I got started with Daracel?
About 14 years ago, after working as herdsman, dairy manager and other farming enterprises and realizing the time constraints to performing the needs of a full time dairy, I was talking to my eldest son Lee while we were eating a meal at home.
"Lee, there must be a better way of doing this," (operating a dairy) to which Lee was quiet for a time; then he took a blank piece of paper and drew a large circle and said "There you go, Dad." I said "What's this?" and he said, "You figure it out."
I laughed at the time, but that circle kept coming back to haunt me. Over the days, months and years I played with the circle concept till an idea started formulating in my mind. The big hold-up was timely milking of the cows using the old milking systems. Then one day I heard of the rotary system.
This was the answer. I modified the entry-exit system, designed environmental safe- guards and started serious consideration of costs, labor requirements, resource utilization, distribution, marketing, research, and hired a marketing consultant (Jak Lundquist) in 2006 to formulate an investment presentation.
When Jak Lundquist was unable to complete his assignment, due to a serious illness, I was discouraged to the point of dropping the whole thing. I wasn't able nor qualified to formulate all areas ie: Research, Marketing, Distribution and Management. I also knew that I alone wasn't able to finance building such a new, far-reaching concept.
I had been a long haul truck driver. I traveled the 48 states picking up and delivering everything one can think of to keep this country running. I paid close attention to the agricultural situation and found a steady decline, almost to the elimination of the small family farm and its supporting small farm towns.
Try as I might to put aside the Daracel concept, it kept coming back strong and clear. At times I would reach an impassable obstacle.
A day or so later I would receive the answer loud and clear ie: the entry and exit system for the rotary system.
My main concern had to deal with the management and financial concept. The Management concept needs to build on the whole person. An overall vision of the ultimate direction and purpose of Daracel is the determining factor whether or not Daracel will succeed.
The financial needs are always first and foremost. I believe that a perpetual in-house financial system needs to be built into the financial plan of each unit, much like a hands up concept; each unit helps finance the next unit. A short time payoff, 2 to 5 years, will remove the feeling of no light at the end of the tunnel and allow for fast expansion.
I often reflected on the failure to get a marketing presentation, until one day I met a young man who I had worked with off and on over the years, and in a moment of reflection, told the Daracel story to him, ending in my last disappointment of not getting a marketing presentation, especially a financial feasibility study. He listened intently, then smiled and said, "I would have done it for nothing," and that it was his profession in times past to do similar work; of course if there were something to come of it on the backside, he was open to it.
Dennis has worked untold hours formulating a preliminary analysis using what figures we have been able to gather. A working model is in place or near completion. At this point, with limited accuracy, the concept can be achieved; much work still needs to be done. I feel impressed to set a preliminary construction date of June 2008 tentative site Kanosh, Utah.

Its time to re-invent the way a dairy is operated

It is important to change when change is needed . The question is what is best for my situation ? I believe Daracels concept has some strong points ie. the vision of total independence and self-sustaining,

Projected project payoff within 2-5 years, produces electrical and fuel needs from site resources ie solar, methane,and wind, has its own research technology, peretual in system financial institutions to finance operations, legal support,

a management support program, in house distribution centers, coopertive marketing centers owned and operated by producers, production systems that reduces labor and time requirements ,

livestock reside in spacious clean environments reducing turn-around milking times extending their productive lives and greatly reduces stress, no offensive odors are generated ,

restoring farms and farm communities in harmony with family values,

This morning I went to my son's house (Scott) and he helped me set up my very first blog for Daracel. I'm just getting started, so you will see this site evolve over the next few weeks. My hope is to show the world how a dairy can be created to save costs, reduce labor requirements, save on the environment, and be franchised in an affordable and profitable manner. Our goal is to bring back the family dairy and restore the small farm communities.
